To understand is to forgive

 To understand is to forgive. Understanding gives rise to compassion. Compassion gives rise to Love. Love gives rise to forgiveness.

Anyone true to experience will tell you understanding is the key to forgiveness. And understanding cannot come until we allow it to happen. 

Here Jesus says to the paralytic your sins are forgiven you because he understands, he is filled with compassion.

And I think when Jesus said “Your sims are forgiven you “ it’s for the paralytic sake not God’s sake. Because the paralytic was laden with guilt and sorrow probably for what he has done or somehow he associated his condition to his past experiences and his burden by the guilt of it probably he did or felt he did something wrong. 

Here Jesus is saying look, don’t hold this guilt and this burden be set free. “I understand” . That moment I believe the paralytic saw the light and was healed.
